God Pivots

Scripture Reference:

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV)

““For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.”

Sometimes rest gets interrupted.

And honestly?
So does life.

There is a famous saying about good intentions and how good intentions alone are not the same as action. I once heard a very successful person day, “Either you’re doing it or you’re not. Effort is not action.”

And another say on a live podcast, “you cannot be great, if you’re late.” - Dr. Calvin Moore, Jr.. CEO.

Now, if you know anything about inspirational quotes and inspiring thought leaders, like the one quoted above on the concept of being late, you know that excellence, wellness, and intentional living are all woven throughout intentional plans and and the reality of life. So I do not believe that either statement was ever meant to shame people for being human or for having plans disrupted.

I think the deeper message is this:
we should live purposefully and intentionally, but never without grace.

And honestly? That is where many of us struggle.

We plan the perfect weekend.
The perfect routine.
The perfect self-care day.
The perfect schedule.

And then life happens.

A family member needs support.
A friend needs someone to listen.
Work deadlines spill into the weekend.
Unexpected responsibilities appear out of nowhere.

And suddenly, the rest we carefully planned gets interrupted.

But interruptions are not failure.

They are part of being human.

As ReRise continues to grow, a journey launched fully in faith and obedience, I am learning this lesson in real time myself:
perfection may be the plan, but grace is often the reality.

And maybe that is okay.

So if your rest this weekend did not happen exactly the way you intended, this is your reminder:
you can begin again.

You can pause again.
You can rest again.
You can reset again.

Disruptions do not mean you failed.

They simply mean life happened.

And the beautiful thing about God is this:
He knows how to pivot.

Better than Google Maps.
Better than Apple Maps.
Better than any navigation system we could ever rely on.

God knows the back roads. The ones we use where the speed radars are non-existent.
The detours.
The shortcuts.
The reroutes.

Nothing catches Him off guard.

Even when our plans shift unexpectedly, God still knows how to guide us forward. So as you move through the final moments of this weekend, approach yourself with grace.

Maybe your rest does not look like an entire quiet day away.

Maybe it looks like:
a warm cup of tea,
a slow walk through your neighborhood,
a few quiet moments on your patio,
or simply taking a deep breath before the next responsibility arrives.

Because rest is not always about perfectly protected time. Sometimes rest is simply a posture. A mindset.

A decision to slow down emotionally, mentally, and spiritually even while life continues moving around us.

So if this weekend did not go according to plan, give yourself permission to pivot.

God does it beautifully.

And by His grace, so can we.

Prayer:

Father God,

My life’ navigation is in your hands. You are always on time, even when I feel late.

And, in moment when I do arrive late (factually), and I miss the mark, the deadline, the time either I set or promised you that I would change, repent, do better…

Thank you for loving me with such grace and mercy that can only come from my Father.

I will not allow the hurry of this world, and expectations of others to keep me in a constant state of stress and anxiousness.

Your plans are good, and so are your ways. Isaiah 55:8-9

In Jesus name,
Amen.
